Introduction

Bonjour! Hallo! Hey!

My name is Lindsey Pritchett. I'm a sophomore in the Bumpers College who is studying Poultry Science with a pre-medical concentration. This summer, I'm participating in a 3-week study tour to Ghent, Belgium. I will be blogging as I prepare for departure and as I'm traveling abroad! 

While participating in the Belgium Study Tour, I will be assisting the University of Ghent and the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO) in Ghent, Belgium. I will be working with other students from the University of Arkansas to improve communication between staff at the University of Ghent and between researchers and the public. To accomplish this, we will complete the following tasks: 

• condense research into short informational pieces (print and electronic) 
• create a 10-minute introductory video for the ILVO website  
• create a video template to create short videos promoting educational programs and research projects 
• redesign the ILVO website 
• create communication plans

Improving the ILVO website and creating informational media will make research more available to the public. The additional plans and templates will help continue our efforts after our three-week trip has concluded. Creating a sustainable program in Belgium will ensure successful communication for years to come. At the end of our study tour, each student from the University of Arkansas will receive three hours of course credit for Global Agricultural Communications (AGED 401V).

In addition to our academic objectives, we will be spending our weekends traveling to nearby countries. Our proposed destinations include Paris, London, Germany, and the Netherlands. Seeing the brilliant fields of flowers in the Netherlands, the towering castles in Germany, the Buckingham Palace in London, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris will be a dream come true.
